On behalf of the Korean Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (KSCRS), it is my great pleasure to invite you to the 24th APACRS Annual Meeting in conjunction with the 2011 KSCRS Symposium (the 6th IMACRS) to be held from October 13 to 16, 2011 at the Coex convention center in Seoul, Korea.
Recent analysis on world's demography clearly poses remarkable growth rate of aged population, and consequently the medical demand for cataract and refractive surgery is also highlighting this trend.
This trend has been articulated by Korea’s social campaign in 2010, “Eye Love Walking Festival against Blindness” commemorating “World Sight Day”.
It is no doubt that these ophthalmologists’ proactive participations can precipitate the extensive enhancement of the better quality of life as well as development of ophthalmology community. As a member of Korean and Asia-Pacific medical academia, I am sure securing global recognition of Asia Pacific's high standard of cataract and refractive surgery, we expect more latent medical needs for cataract and refractive surgery coming with remarkable development.
APACRS meeting is the world renowned academic gathering which has been held annually in the Asia-Pacific area. In conjunction with the 2011 KSCRS Symposium and the 6th IMACRS meeting, we are planning numerous scientific program, exhibition, social and tour program which attract more than 1,000 ophthalmologists and technicians from more than 50 countries, highlighting the significance of networking.
Seoul, a city in harmonious mixture of old and new, has been the capital of Korea for over 600 years. As Korea’s political, economic, social and cultural center, it has won world recognition by successfully holding a lot of world-class events, such as G20 summit, APEC and ASEM, to name a few.
In closing, I would like to extend my heartfelt invitation to you and look forward to your active participation in the APACRS-KSCRS Seoul 2011.
